How It's Made

Some recycled paper, a glue coating, jewelry STRING and a little patience go a long way….

Many people exclaim, “Oh!! I used to make those [paper beads] when I was a kid!”
I can’t recall ever taking a hand to crafting paper beads, however, it is a simple (yet tedious) process.

Here is how it’s done:
1. Recycled paper is cut into long, triangular strips
2. They are then rolled into a bead starting with the wider end first. Some women choose to use a toothpick of sorts to create the hole, while other’s can do it without any tools at all.
3. They are then coated in a glue-like liquid to hold them together. This also gives the beads a nice finish and enables them to hold up well against water.
4. They are put on string to dry.
5. They are then re-strung into beautiful necklaces and bracelets.
